Barrington Chart Tile Trivet - Knowing the Way
Posted by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI on Apr 22nd 2022
Coming in off the East Passage of Narragansett Bay. There is a special way of handling a vessel to navigate to Barrington. One first approaches the buoys at "The Gate" of the Warren River, swinging slightly east. The wheel swings hard to port and aligns the vessel between the buoys. Making certain that the stern is clearing the buoys and now facing the beach of Barrington's Rumstick, swing the wheel hard to starboard. Now sight Allen Rock in the Warren River. Follow the winding channel, cut by an eel, and make your way to the Barrington River. All throughout, be certain to plot the current and the wind, because the tidal current will push you around. Watch the streaming against the buoys.
When you know, you know. This is a passage that confounds and impresses mariners who visit and for whom this is their home port. Experience this passage in the Barrington Chart Tile Trivet from Made From RI: Barrington Chart Tile Trivet - Made From RI. It is a conversation point for certain.
