Del's at Fenway: A Sweet Taste of Home

Picture this: you're sitting the iconic "Green Monster" at Fenway Park, the crack of the bat echoing through the stadium, and suddenly you hear a familiar call from the vendors. But this time, it's not just peanuts and Cracker Jack... it's Del's Frozen Lemonade, that unmistakable taste of Rhode Island summer.
That's exactly what happened during our recent trip to watch the Red Sox wrap up their series against the Tampa Bay Rays. We'd brought our boys to the game as a graduation gift for our eldest before he heads off to university in South Carolina. (Don't worry... his dorm room will be decked out in New England gear. He'll represent, no doubt about it.) The Sox took the series with a satisfying sweep, brooms and all, but what really caught my attention was hearing that distinctive call for Del's in the stands.
There's something magical about finding a piece of home in unexpected places. Here was this quintessentially Rhode Island treat... the same frozen lemonade we've been sipping at beaches and block parties for decades... making its way into one of baseball's most storied ballparks. It got me thinking about all the ways we stay connected to the places and people we love, even when distance tries to pull us apart.
At Made From RI, we've always believed in the power of shared experiences. For years, we've been suggesting that friends and college students send each other packets of Del's and hop on a video call to recreate those summer moments together. There's something beautiful about knowing that someone hundreds of miles away is mixing up the same frozen treat and sharing stories over a screen. It's not quite the same as being there in person, but it's a bridge across the miles.
Now, as we're about to send our own son off to college, we've got another idea brewing. Why not take it a step further? Fire up the computers, mix up some Del's, and watch a Red Sox game together across time and space. Your college kid in their dorm room, you in your living room, both sipping that familiar lemon slush and cheering for the same team. It's not the same as having them next to you in the stands, but it's together in all the ways that matter.
Because at the end of the day, isn't that what family businesses like ours are all about? We're not just selling products... we're creating moments, building bridges, and finding ways to bring people together. Whether it's through a packet of Del's mix sent with love or a shared game watched from different states, we're helping families stay connected to their roots and to each other. (Here's a big advantage of working with Made From RI... we ship everywhere!)
So, here's to Del's at Fenway, to Red Sox sweeps, and to all the little ways we keep our loved ones close, no matter how far they roam. Sometimes the sweetest victories aren't just on the scoreboard... they're in the simple moments we create together, one frozen lemonade at a time.
