Rhode Island And Clam Shacks - Together at Made From RI
Posted by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI on Jul 5th 2020
A few short years ago, I received a contact from Christopher Scott Martin (of Quahog.org - "The Definitive Rhode Island Road Trip") regarding some photos that he and David Norton Stone were going to place in this brainstorm of a book about that they were collaborating on. The subject was Rhode Island Clam Shacks of the past (and those that continue to exist into the present). The photos that I was interpreting had to do with some wonderfully ancient photos of fishing boats at Block Island (I spent most of my life on the waterfront, so this was fun for me).
All of this can be found in our online store at MadeFromRI.com... it is named Rhode Island Clam Shacks and can be found by clicking the link (and I am credited at a few points in the book). Find it on our Made From RI web site store by clicking the photo below:
And if anyone ever wants to talk about boats and history, you can also contact us at info@madefromri.com ... we have a lot of information and connections gathered from over the years.
What else are we looking at at Made From RI?
- An article from "Edible Rhody" about "Goin' Fishing" that begs the question, "What Better Time To Catch Your Own Dinner?": https://ediblerhody.ediblecommunities.com/things-do/goin-fishing
- New England Cable News (NECN) looks at How to Made The Most of a Vacation Week in Rhode Island and Connecticut (notice how they mention Rhode Island first?): https://www.necn.com/news/new-england-vacation-week/how-to-make-the-most-of-vacation-week-in-rhode-island-connecticut/2290383/
- And lastly, The Providence Journal talks about a favorite topic and How Rocky Point Is Still Creating Memories: https://www.providencejournal.com/sports/20200702/rocky-point-still-creating-memories (Rocky Point is where I grew up... well a half a mile away on Warwick Neck... and I started my maritime career catching the lines there for the old M/V Bay Queen when I was still in high school).
