Rhode Island is the Ocean State. Our shoreline is our philosophical lifeline; it defines who we are.
The Rhode Island shoreline has also defined our history too. Some of noble, some of it nefarious, some of it heroic, and some of it innovative. It is a thread that binds us in a shared history that has shaped a nation.
In some cases, it brought honor to the nation as well. The Herreshoff legacy alone is one of engineering, sailing, and even defense.
