A Made From RI Story - How Made From RI is like Galilee & Jerusalem

Posted by Keith R Wahl, Made From RI on Nov 14th 2019

This is the one time that our readers will find a blog posting in two sites, Made From RI and Made From RI Gallery. But first, a bit of explanation wrapped in a true Rhode Island story...

Last year, we posted a photo of Galilee (Narragansett, Rhode Island) and a Midwestern priest asked of us if the Holy Land was in Rhode Island. This gave us the opportunity to tell the story of the villages of Galilee and Jerusalem which is told as follows: "In 1902, the story goes, Thomas Mann a fisherman from Nova Scotia who had settled here, felt the village that had sprung up with its fishing shacks should be called Galilee, after the fishing village of biblical times. One day, an old timer sat on the docks repairing his nets when a stranger called out to him, 'Where am I?' The answer was 'Galilee'. 'And what is that?' the stranger asked pointing to the other side of the channel. The old timer thought for a minute, nodded his head and replied, 'must be Jerusalem'. And so the name of Galilee and Jerusalem have been used since to denote a most picturesque part of Rhode Island." (from Wikipedia)

Jerusalem And Galilee

Well, this Rhode Island story of two villages united by purpose applies to Made From RI as a business. We have always had the online shop of Rhode Island made products at MadeFromRI.com. However, we want to more formally introduce you to Made From RI Gallery at MadeFromRIGallery.com. At Made From RI Gallery, we feature our photography by Keith R Wahl. The same mission and the same purpose, but Made From RI Gallery is better attuned to presenting photographs in a customer friendly format (it even has features for selecting frames and matting as well as modeling the space where one might display the photo and even a Virtual Reality feature that allows you to use a smartphone or tablet to "see" what a photo will look like in a space). Give it a try at MadeFromRIGallery.com

There is also a supporting blog at Made From RI Gallery, which will contain photo essays surrounding our little adventures and travels in Rhode Island (and a bit beyond).
