Those That Go Down To The Sea In Ships - Made From RI

So many places provide inspiration for what we do at Made From RI in placing Rhode Island made items in people's hands. Coming from the Ocean State, one of our topics is ships; it's where I personally started off after all. For us it is more than just "nautical decor"; it is a way of life.

The words of John Masefield's opening stanza of "Sea Fever" echo in these summer months:

"I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,

And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;

And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,

And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking."

The imagery of Masefield's is both powerful and reminiscent. So many adventures that have crossed the globe that started here in Rhode Island. So when you bring these items into your home, think of those who have crossed the oceans (perhaps yourself) and long to cross those seas again.
